Dear airlines, could I see the secret computer?
Not directly but maybe slightly continuing earlier post of loyalty. But this is a quick one as I am trying to get myself calm and peaceful again…
I would like to see the secret-hyper-bigger-than-universe-pricing-computer which is used to put the price tags on airline tickets! Yes, yes, I know the whole concept putting different prices on the booking classes, some tickets are more fixed or flexible than others but how do you get two different prices for the same flight, from the same airline, using the same website but from different country? So the price in the final destination is 50% more expensive than in your departure location. That’s something I don’t get. That was even the very same seat, my friends at the airlines! Please don’t give me the answer like “our marketing objectives are different in other country”. If you want to keep your customers. I mean the loyal ones.
Or is the secret-hyper-bigger-than-universe-pricing-computer actually a manual pricing team starting their date with an old-fashioned lottery machine producing the price tags for today? I bet it is.
I can buy the ticket, as I have made so many times before, using the cheaper website but as a loyal customer for 15 years I might expect not to browse around the websites for a cheaper price, right? And naturally every clever customer is doing the same so it’s you who is loosing money.
I will sign-up a two years contract with the first airline who will give me a hassle-free solution for regular cross-Atlantic flights from Europe! I am not a big corporate client but very regular and loyal. Maybe that might have more to give in the future than those tight annual negotiations with your shrinking corporate clients? Easier, at least. And I can do business class tickets with even fixed dates. Thank you.
I don’t get this. Maybe glass of good red wine would help me out of this. Cheers!
